Hello from Switzerland

Where shall I start? So much has happened the past two weeks! From the time we left our house it was nearly 48 hours before we arrived in Basel due to flight delays from bad weather. Even with the delays and cancelled fights we had a good trip. Sometimes folks say, "If it is God all will go smoothly." Of course we all know that isn't true. The truth is, if something is of the Lord then He will give us peace and grace to go through the bumpy places.

Our apartment is very nice and we are all feeling quite at home. (The photo is sunrise from our balcony.) The location is convenient to the tram lines and several grocery stores. The apartment we hope to get for Haden is directly across the intersection. The paperwork is in process for his apartment lease. Nothing is simple here. Lots of rules and regulations.

Keaton and Landon had asked the information desk at the airport about fishing liscenses. They were told that 14 and under did not need a permit. Well, not so. Several days ago they went fishing in the Rhine while I did some grocery shopping a couple of blocks away. My cell phone rings, the voice on the other end says, " Mom the police came." There was more but those four words were all I heard. A picture flashed in my mind of Keaton and Landon sitting in Swiss jail with someone sreaming German at them. Fortunately, that was not the case. Keaton was calling from a nearby hotel not jail. The police did inform them that they do need a permit and there are many regulations about the types of baits, bobbers, etc. The police had a manual full of fishing regulations! At the age of 15 a person is required to take a test to get a liscence. Can you imagine every fisherman in Oklahome taking a test?

Haden arrived on Thursday and is getting adjusted to the seven hour time difference. He will be working as Robert's assistant chasing down information, doing errands, and those kinds of things. His current personal priority is getting into his own apartment. There are now six of us sharing one bathroom!

Today we are going to a carnival. Keaton and Landon met a man from Zambia in the park yesterday named Ja Ja (Spelling?) who told them all about it. From their conversation we know that we take tram 6 and the rides are free.
I hope that I am able to post consistantly now so check frequently. It is 10:30 AM here, 3:38 AM there, and we are heading out for the day.

Hi Deals,
I was so happy to see your email in my inbox this morning. Glad you finally made it. Sounds like ya'll are adjusting nicely. The fishing story was scary, but thank the Lord, everything worked out. What a life experience this is for you, Robert and the chidren. Most people will live a lifetime and never experience what you're living!
Please remember Haley and her dad in prayers. He overdosed a week ago Friday, aspirated, had a heart-attack and is in ICU in Freeman Hospital. He has double pneumonia and now has an antibotic resistant bacterial infection in his lungs that they are treating and is on a ventilator. The good news is that he accepted Christ a week ago today. For that we are so very thankful! God is faithful. This is a rough time for Haley since she is 6 hours away at school. She made the trip home this weekend to see him, but must go back to school today.
Hope you all had a great time at the carnival.
Please keep us updated!
love you all,
Patti

so glad you're all safe and sound. Thanks for the beautiful photo. And tell those boys "NO MORE TROUBLE WITH THE POLICE" - I don't have bail money.

Good to know you are all together and safe. I had called the house and wasn't able to get through. 6 in a 2 bedroom. WOW! I had thoughts of the boys running with poles in hand, being chased down by German policemen on horseback. What a sight! Sounds like the test is as serious as a driving test. Too much going on here to go into on a blog. The guys came over and took the girls to a movie, dinner and then they all took Krey bowling. A carnival sounds like fun! And its FREE! Tell the kids the Honeycutt kids said hello and they miss them. Go and see everything send me pic's and have a wonderfully blessed time. We will call you this week sometime.
We love you and miss you very much, Julz and the gang
